CAREER PATH - Jan's Yellow Brick Road to Publishing, filled with curves, challenges, colorful personalities and the adventure of a lifetime.
- Epiphany moment: When I adapted Little Women into a play to perform with the neighborhood kids in my garage.
- Discovered I can be brilliant on demand when, at the last minute I opted to enter the contest to write the senior musical, pulled an all-nighter and came up with a script: To Be or Not To Be: She Wasn't. Pointless but oh-so clever, and it won !
- Girl reporter, feature writer for a small town newspaper in El Dorado County, CA. Penned a weekly humor column Country Cluckin'for 5 years. Published feature articles in major magazines and published numerous stories in collections such as Chicken Soup, God Allows U-Turns & more.
- Became a legislative assistant/press secretary/speechwriter for the California State Senate in Sacramento. Spent 12 years learning to research, ghost-write and make sense out of state politics.
- Stepped out to launch my freelance writing and speaking career in 1998. Publication of first book, After the Locusts, in 2002 followed by Unshakeable, Woman Behind the Mask, Soul Retreats for Women.
- Appeared on LIFE TODAY with James Robison and guest appearances on numerous television programs and hundreds of radio programs across the country where I shared my testimony and life lessons --- to the glory of God!!!
- Currently freelancing features for my local paper, monthly travel columnist for Senior Magazine (check out all my past columns online)
- Copywriter/content editor, script/book consultant working as: Brilliance On Demand Writing Services, my own business. Request brochure. Website coming soon.
- Writing script dialogue for an upcoming feature film:Power and Pride which will begin shooting in Sacramento/Folsom CA next year.
- Copywriting, web content for new TV show, Experience El Dorado which debuted this year.
- Faculty at Redwood Christian Writers Conference every February. Jon Drury director.
- Enjoy teaching & mentoring new writers at North Texas Christian Writers Conference in Dallas/Ft. Worth every September.
- Following our passion of travel: Just got back from Scandinavia this fall, planning trips to Mexico, DC/Williamsburg and Spain in November, all on the "cheap..."
